What is digital art?

Digital art is when people use digital technology to create a piece of artistic work.

There are different techniques to get different effects. Photo manipulation for example can be used to change a photograph to add on an effect by creating an illusion.

An example of this is in magazines where they change the appearance to make them look better than they really look. This can be achieved using Photoshop. This is mainly seen in women magazines to make them look more appealing. This can be achieved by air brushing an image to make it look flawless, like making the eyes brighter highlighting the skin and eyes, ect…

It can also be used to create different and more exciting images that can be interesting for the public to look at. It can also allow people to create images that they can be proud of without them having to be able to draw or paint. This is useful because it lets you create something that you might not be able to create without a computer faster. It also lets you layer up images and change the images to make them more or less opaque.

Another style is digital painting. This is where you paint or draw an image digitally onto a computer or tablet. This could be useful because it will let you use tolls that are not available to use without a digital devise. This helps to give the paintings different effects that wouldn’t be able to achieve as well, when creating an image traditional. This can be achieved using Photoshop, sketch book pro, painter x3, illustrator and more. I think that this would be good for people who are more talented with drawing and want to try a different technique.

3D printing can be used to create an image digitally but then be able to print it out into a 3D object. This can be used by creating cool sculptures and household items. How it works is that a digital file is created and a program that specialises in 3D modelling and printing, the software (CAD) chops the image up into layers, the printer then copied the layers and creates a 3D image.

You can also create different animation/ CGI animation. This is the process that created moving digital images by using computer graphics. This can be useful to create films and TV programs and games. Modern programs mainly use 3D computer graphics

Why do people use it?

People could use it to create films, TV programs and games for the public to watch and use, this helps people to make a living because it is there job. Some people could do it because they enjoy it, as it allows them to do so much things that they wouldn’t have been able to do before. It has now become part of our everyday lives so people could be inspired by the things that they see and might want to have a go at being able to create it as well. It can also be used as a form of escapism to let people escape from their lives and create different things that they don’t have and might never have, as it lets them do what they want to do.

What software do they use?

Depending on what you want to do you will need different types of software.

Photo manipulation can be achieved by using Photoshop.

Digital painting can be created using Photoshop, Painter X3, illustrator and sketch book pro.

Digital printing is done by using a 3D printer and CAD software.

Animation is made using 3D computer graphics.

I think that after looking at some examples and watching some tutorials, I think that it can be easier to create digital art if you want to get a specific type of effect, like if you want to create something that you want to make it harder to look at then you would be better off using a computer to make it more even and crisp. But on the other hand I think that it cost lest to draw and paint a picture if you know that you won’t use the different software a lot.

The main advantage is that it is faster than if you were going to create a piece of work traditionally, and it has a higher success rate because you can undo any mistakes that you made. I think that this is a good idea because it lets you get more practice without using any equipment that will run out.

Also because technology is always advancing there is more opportunity’s to create more interesting images.

I like the fruit animals because they are different and seem simple to make. I think that I could recreate the images in more than one way but it might not look as good as the original images that I looked at.

I also like the animals with the brighter lines on them because they look complicated to do but after watching the tutorial I thought that it would be more difficult to make but hopefully I will be able to re create the picture so it looks at least slightly similar.
