What is a GIF file used for?
A GIF files can be compressed and are a small size file. They are often used for logos or graphic that have solid sections of colour, but you wouldnt be able to save a ohotograph as a GIF, or any type of graphics with a gradient.

If scanning a basic photograph, what reolution is best to use?
If you scan the photo in at 300dpi (300 dots per inch) So at 300dpi you are going to be able to get an exact copy of the original photo, and the photo would be HDTV quality.
If scanning an iamge for a webpage what resolution is best?
Normaley the higher the resolution the better the quality the image will be, Although this does not apply when you have an image on a website because the viewer may not be able to see the image because the devise may not be able to display more than a certain amout of resolution. Most of the time the computer will desplay a maximum of 72dip.
A photoshop PSD file protects what?
PSD stands for Photoshoped Document, and is used as a deafult formatthat photoshop uses to save dadt. The PSD alows you to be able to manipulate an image, and individual layers befor and after the image has been saved.

FLV is mainy used to save digital video data, and compresing the file so that it is stored in a smaleer file format.
